1. Big Barker 7" Pillowtop Orthopedic Dog Bed

Best Dog Bed for Large Dogs - Big Barker 7" Pillow top Orthopedic Dog Bed (Headrest Edition)
First, let's look at the best dog beds for large dogs. Big Barker dog beds are calibrated for big dogs like labs.

Small doggies like Fluff and I won't really be comfortable on the bed because we aren't heavy enough to sink into the memory foam.

This bed is 7 inches thick and has three layers that consist of a 3-inch supportive layer enclosed in two inches of comfort foam.

I love that build in pillow thing that comes with it. The American made therapeutic foam is the best quality in orthopedic beds and won't flatten.

There's even a 10-year warranty where the company will give your money back if it flattens. Geez! Let the bed jumping wars begin!

Tons of people are giving this big dog bed good reviews. 4.9 out of 5 stars and that's about 3000 people that rated it. Maybe if I eat more and get bigger I can get one of these.

Mommy says I'm not gonna get bigger. Shhhh Renza!

The barker bed is easy to clean and machine washable. Just unzip the cover and wash it.

The Big Barker comes in three sizes: Large (48x30x7), Extra Large (53x36x7), Giant (60x48x7). It also comes in three earth-toned colors which are Burgundy, Khaki, and Chocolate.

Verdict: Big dogs will love this bed. It's one of the best orthopedic dogs bed for large breeds.

2. Majestic Pet Suede Dog Bagel Bed

Best Dog Bed For Puppies - Suede Dog Bed By Majestic Pet Products
This bed looks super comfy, you guys. This is what we call a nest-style dog bed or bagel bed which means it has an inner and outer ring.

Comfy and yummy! I mean...uhm for a dog that loves bagels. Not me! This dog bed is best suited for smaller dogs, puppies and medium-sized dogs.

The base is a heavy duty waterproof 300/600 denier. Great for messy dogs like puppies. In their defense, they're only babies.

Fluffy made mommy less lazy. What?! It's true! Get a puppy, lazy humans! You'll thank me later.

The bolster and cushion are a durable fau by suede and stuffed with a Super Premium High Loft Polyester Fiber Fil that will conform to your dog's frame.

The bolster on the pet bed helps with spine support. It allows dogs to rest their head and to help straighten their spines. Zzzzzz!

It's a fully machine washable dog bed in an oversize washer on gentle cycle. Air dry when done. The bigger sizes come with a removable cover that you can wash.

The Majestic bagel dog bed comes in five earth-toned colors which are Chocolate, Brown, Rust, Sage, and Stone.

Sizes for small to medium sized dogs: 24 inches for dogs from 1 to 25 pounds, 32 inches for dogs between 26 and 40 pounds, 40 inches for dogs between 41 and 70 pounds and 52 inches for dogs weighing 70 pounds and over.

Verdict: This dog bed is perfect for smaller/medium sized dogs or puppies. Comfy, waterproof, lightweight and easy to clean.

3. Kuranda Dog Bed That is Chew Proof

Best Dog Beds for Chewers - Kuranda - Dog Bed That is Chew Proof Woof! I really love this bed, you guys. It's an elevated, orthopedic dog bed that is chew proof. Yep! From the customer's Kuranda dog bed reviews, the chewers like Fluffy are having a hard time destroying it. Shame!

The Kuranda All Aluminum bed is recommended for heavier dogs or more aggressive chewers. Don't ask me what an aggressive chewer is. You should know your dog's chew habits.

This bed will keep dogs cool, dry and comfortable. Because of the UV resistant finish, it's easy to clean too. The fabric slides inside the frame which hides the edges of the frame to discourage chewing.

The Cordura fabric is abrasion resistant, is as durable as canvas, and it provides plenty of traction getting on and off the bed. It's great for indoor use.

The walnut frames are not for outdoor use. It hates the sun! Kuranda recommends their Almond color or Aluminum beds for outdoors.

This super tough dog bed comes with a one year warranty and the company will replace any damaged parts in that year. Challenge accepted! I mean Fluffy accepts the challenge. I'm innocent, you guys.

This bed is not for doggies with joint problems because it will be hard for them to get off and on the bed. I'm very flexible and love jumping on stuff.

Extra info:
Outside Dimensions: 40x25x7
Fabric Area: 37x22
Weight limit recommendation is 125lbs, regardless of size.
The Kuranda dog bed comes in 5 sizes: Small (30x20), Medium (35x23), Large (40x25), XL (44x27) and XXL(50x36).
The Cordura cover comes in four great colors which are Burgundy, Forest Green, Khaki, and Smoke.

Verdict: The Kuranda is one of the best dog beds for chewers. It will last longer because it's indestructible.

It's also perfect for a doggie like me because I have a lot of hair and the elevated orthopedic design with mesh fabric will keep me cool and comfy. Buy me, one mommy! Pretty please! Licks!

Best Dog Bed Buyer's guide

Why Your Dog Needs a Dog Bed

Do dogs need beds? Well durr! Humans have beds, why can't we? Lots of doggies share beds with their human or lie on the coach. I'll admit, I love the couch and Fluffy is an expert couch potato.

Unfortunately sharing beds and couches is not really allowed in our house, because Fluffy is a hair shedder. Just her, not me. We have to wait for the old humans to go sleep and then the soft chairs are ours.

Mommy does not mind. Don't worry, the chairs are covered. She's accused of spoiling us though. Uhm, If I was spoiled I would not have a bed with 6 holes in it! Geez!

Last year's new bed. I rubbed my scent on it afterward.

I guess a dog bed will help keep us off the human's couches and beds. Dog beds are good for insulation. They're comfy and soft so that we don't have to sleep on the cold hard floor.

It's a little-designated place of our own. Fluff's shed hair accumulates on the bed and not everywhere like with dogs that sleep wherever. It cuts down on vacuum time when the hair is in one place. Just shave her already mommy! We can rename her Fluffless!

The Types of Dog Beds

Time to break it down, you guys. There are different types of dog beds. It's not just about going out and buying anyone. You have to look at factors like comfort, is it easy for us doggies to rip apart, price, size, etc.

Look, I'm not into destroying my own stuff. Snowy is also a good example of a non-destroyer. His bed and blanket are still in one piece.

The puppy species of our kind do not know the value of things. I apologize on their behalf. Luckily Fluffy is now an adult and less destructive.

The day Fluffy got her first dog bed!

Well, maybe once or twice a day when the Zoomie virus strikes she goes into destroy mode. It's like how a werewolf turns on a full moon except zoomies happens once or twice a day. Sometimes more depending on how crazy or young, your dog is.

That's when total destruction can take place. There's yelling, wrestling, mommy's hand gets teeth marks for not playing according to Fluffy's rules.

Fluffy yells, mommy yells, Snowy barks because he's confused, I watch the madness unfold and things get destroyed. My bed is first on the menu!

When it's over we go back to normal and wait for late afternoon zoomies. Fine! I take part in zoomie time too. It's contagious! Let's look at the types of dog beds you get.

  • Standard beds - No rims or edges. Looks similar to cushion or standard mattress. It's made mostly of memory foam or polyester filling inside and comes with a removable cover. Best for dogs that lie stretched out. Like me!
  • Nest style beds - Looks like a birds nest - Flat bottom with raised walls. The walls can close almost completely. For dogs that love curling up when sleeping and don't mind closed spaces. Best for small to medium dogs. Not for larger dogs.
  • Raised/elevated beds - Frame normally made of wood, metal or wicker. Easy to clean and keeps a dog raised from the ground. Will support small, medium or large dogs. Not for dogs that have difficulty climbing on and off something.
  • Corner beds - Can fit in a corner. Raised type of style bed. For dogs that love to curl up and sleep on their side. Best for small to medium dogs because of corner space restriction.
  • Orthopedic beds - These beds are specially designed for dogs with joint problems. Normally made from thick, high-density foam. Thin or senior dogs can also benefit from the comfort of orthopedic beds.
  • Covered beds - Also known as the enclosed dog bed. Looks like a tent or a little house. Perfect for small dogs or dogs that are a bit shy and need their privacy.
  • Kennel beds - These beds are easy to clean and water resistant. For dogs that have to stay in their crate or kennel for long periods of time.
  • Heated beds -  Perfect for the cold winter months or soothing sore joints. Similar to an electric blanket or heating pad.
  • Cooling beds - Perfect for hot summers. Uses gel-like liquid or water to keep the bed's surface cool. Us doggies love cool tiles in summer because normal beds get too hot, so this is a good alternative to hard tiles or floor especially for older dogs.
  • Traveling beds - These are for the frequent traveler. Similar to standard dog beds, but they roll or fold up.

Dog Bed Size Guide

Choosing the best size for your dog's bed is important. Fluffy is way bigger than her bed. Mommy did not think she would grow almost twice my size.

Snowy's bed is twice the size of my bed but he's smaller than me. He sleeps a lot on that thing.

I think if the bed goes into a crate or dog house, then you should take that size into consideration too. A snug bed is nice, but I lie stretched out legs and my legs overlap. Not good!

It's best to measure your dog before you buy a bed. Especially if you're not sure about medium and large sizes. Mommy just saw beds and bought them without considering our size. I know yes! She's very inconsiderate.

1. Small

  • small dogs weighing under 30 pounds.
  • round beds with a diameter of 35 inches.
  • an average rectangular dimension of 16x21 inches.
  • for small sized dogs like Maltese, Pomeranian, etc.

2. Medium

  • dogs weighing between 30 - 45 pounds.
  • a diameter of 42 inches.
  • an average rectangular dimension of 20x27 inches.
  • for medium sized dogs like beagles, Australian Shepard, etc.

3. Large

  • dogs weighing between 45 - 80 pounds.
  • a diameter of 53 inches.
  • an average rectangular dimension of 24x36 inches.
  • for large dogs like Labradors and bulldogs.

4. Extra large

  • dogs weighing between 80 pounds and up.
  • a diameter of 60 inches.
  • an average rectangular dimension of 28x41 inches.
  • for extra large dogs like boerboels, great Danes, etc.

I'm Finally Done!

Best Dog Beds Review and Buyer's Guide

These beds are all best quality dog beds. The best of the best. Choosing one will depend on your dog and how well you know them.

Like with Fluffy the strong material with washable cover is best because of the hair and need for destroying everything.

For me, it might be an orthopedic bed because I'm 9 years old already and need extra comfort. Not forgetting it should be tough because I have a Fluffy in my life.

Time to go now, you guys! I hope my review workies was done thoroughly so that mommy Renza will get me one of these nice dog beds.

If not, I might need to get a hold of Snowy's bed. He has two! I'll ask him nicely I promise. If not, I'll send Fluffy to get it. We all know how that will end! Grrrr!

Woof! Woooooof!
